From July 19 to 22, the 1st China–Europe Single-Atom Catalysis Forum, jointly organized by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Technical University of Munich, was held at the Technical University of Munich in Germany. The forum was chaired by Prof. Tao Zhang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Graham J. Hutchings from Cardiff University, UK, and Prof. Matthias Beller from the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis, Germany, as Honorary Chairs. Prof. Bin Liu from City University of Hong Kong, Prof. Roland A. Fischer and Prof. Fritz E. Kühn from the Technical University of Munich served as Forum Chairs.

Under the theme “Single Atoms, Sharing the Future,” the forum focused on frontier topics including the fundamental mechanisms of single-atom catalysis, catalytic conversion of energy-related small molecules and fine chemicals, characterization of single-atom catalysts, and in situ/operando characterization. The forum provided a high-level platform for academic exchange between China and Europe, promoting the sharing of research achievements and strengthening international scientific collaboration.

The forum attracted nearly 70 scholars from 14 countries and regions, including China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, and the United States. Members of national academies and professors from leading universities were invited to participate in the discussions. Researchers from China and abroad engaged in in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge scientific issues such as regulation of single-atom sites, theoretical simulations, in situ characterization, and industrial applications. The program included plenary lectures, parallel sessions, poster presentations, roundtable discussions, and conference banquets, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere and receiving wide recognition from the participants.
