Prof. Yu Cong was born in 1969 in Heilongjiang Province of China. She received her bachelor's and Master's degrees in inorganic chemical engineering from Dalian University of Technology in 1992 and 1995. She graduated in 1999 and obtained her doctorate in science from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS. She was promoted to full professor in 2007. She ever made short-term research visits to City University of Hong Kong, Cardiff University, and Poitiers University. Prof. Cong is mainly engaged in basic and applied research on high-performance hydrocarbon fuels and their catalytic conversion. She is the author or coauthor of over 100 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 180 patents. She was selected as a hundred-grade member of the 8th New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Projects of Liaoning Province (2014) and won the Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize of CAS (2009) and the Science and Technology Progress Award, third prize (2023) as the main contributor.
