A paper titled "Selective hydrogenolysis of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol to 1,5-pentanediol over vanadium modified Ir/SiO2 catalyst" delivered by Toto was accepted by Catalysis Today.
V modified Ir/SiO2 (Ir-VOx/SiO2) catalyst was firstly applied to the selective hydrogenolysis of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA) to 1,5-pentanediol and exhibited better performance than those of other V modified noble metal catalysts. Compared with other transition metal promoted Ir/SiO2 catalysts, the Ir-VOx/SiO2 catalyst also exhibited higher selectivity to 1,5-pentanediol, which is advantageous in practical application. The optimum V/Ir atomic ratio for 4% Ir-VOx/SiO2 catalyst is 0.10 approximately. By using 4% Ir-VOx/SiO2 (V/Ir = 0.1) catalyst, high THFA conversion and 1,5-pentanediol selectivity can be achieved, even at low reaction temperature or system pressure. Based on characterizations, it was found that the strong interaction between V oxide and Ir particle facilitates the reduction of VOx at lower temperature. Synergy between the closely contacted Ir particles and partially reduced isolated VOx species attached on them is the reason for the excellent performance of Ir-VOx/SiO2 catalyst.
Catalysis Today focuses on the rapid publication of original invited papers devoted to currently important topics in catalysis and related subjects. The journal only publishes special issues, each of which is supervised by Guest Editors who recruit individual papers and oversee the peer review process. Catalysis Today offers researchers in the field of catalysis in-depth overviews of topical issues. Catalysis Today has a 2013 impact factor of 3.309.
